Robert F. Kennedy Jr. endorses David Holden

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Robert Kennedy Jr., renowned environmental activist, and lawyer, has endorsed David Holden, the Democratic candidate for Congress in Florida’s 19th District. Kennedy serves as president of Waterkeeper Alliance, the largest and fastest growing nonprofit solely focused on clean water.

“David Holden’s strong environmental commitment, his awareness of the issues facing his district and his efforts for the public good make him the obvious choice to serve as the next congressman from Southwest Florida,” Kennedy announced. “He cares about people and the environment in which they live. Especially in the current red tide and algae crisis, he’s exactly what the district needs right now. I’m delighted to endorse him and I urge all Southwest Floridians to vote for him.”

“I’m honored to be endorsed by Robert Kennedy Jr.,” responded Holden. “Robert’s long history of environmental activism and his concern for our natural world and people’s health are sources of inspiration. It’s great to have an ally like him in the fight to protect and preserve Southwest Florida’s environment.”

Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy, the former US Attorney General, US Senator, and presidential candidate assassinated in 1968, is an environmental attorney, author, and activist. He is the co-founder of Waterkeeper Alliance, the umbrella group for over 300 licensed Waterkeeper organizations and affiliates in 44 countries. From 1986 until 2017, he served as senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council and was a professor of environmental law at Pace University Law School, now the Elizabeth Haub School of Law for over 30 years.

Kennedy will be actively supporting David Holden in the district.

In memoriam
April Freeman

April Freeman, 1964 – 2018

From David Holden, Democratic nominee for Congress in Florida’s 19th District:

On Monday, I was surprised and saddened to learn of the passing of April Freeman, Democratic congressional candidate in the neighboring 17th District. April was a good friend and a committed community activist who wanted the best for the people she sought to represent.

Streeter and I send our heartfelt sympathies to her family. We’ll remain devoted to her vision of sane, sensible government that serves all the people. April was committed to improving Southwest Florida, and we ask people of all persuasions to carry on her work. April will not be forgotten. The success of our efforts in November and beyond will also be hers.

Why I’m with David: Campaign volunteers share their experiences
This week: Phyllis Andrews
I’m working for David Holden for US Congress because he will help the forgotten communities of Collier and Lee counties and throughout the country.  He’ll work to help the 60,000 Haitians with Temporary Protected Status who are slated to be sent back in July of 2019 to a country with 60 percent unemployment and spotty electricity.  He appreciates the fact that our immigrants provide valuable service and diversity to our country.

David cares deeply about the environment.  He wants to preserve the quality of life in the United States and especially in Florida by cleaning up the green algae blooms and the red tide that is killing our environment. In Florida, the environment is the economy and without our pristine environment, we’ll lose our place as a destination.
He also realizes the importance of healthcare and he’ll ensure that all Americans in this rich country will have access to the health care they need.

David Holden will be a true representative of the people, not of corporate interests or the interests of the rich.

I heard Francis Rooney speak at a town hall meeting. He was aloof. When a young teacher expressed concern about public schools losing revenue to private and charter schools, he was visibly unmoved as he shrugged off her question.
The right choice seems clear.
